Just be honest.

ψ This evening I felt the need to take my laptop and write down, talk with you guys about something that I’ve been studying and God put on my heart.

That is – the importance of confessing sins.

ψ This past week I went through different circumstances in which I understood the strong necessity of confessing sins to one another. Not only that, but I saw how important it is for us to be honest in confessing/admitting that we constantly deal with the ugliness of sin in our life. That we are in an on-going battle. But something, better said, someone is fighting with us.

ψ It is crucial for us to be honest about our real struggle with sin not only with our Christian friends but also with our non-Christian friends. How important it is to tell them how we used to fight alone. How we were struggling before knowing Jesus. Now we know and we live knowing that He conquered sin and death, and because of that we are free. It is not a shame to admit in front of others your desperate need of Christ as you continue to fight sin in your life.

ψ The other day I was talking with a lady that does not have a personal relationship with God and her mouth dropped when I confessed to her that I struggle with something that she is also struggling at the present moment. She knew that I am Christian and she said that she was not expecting to hear that. She was thinking that I am “perfect”. And we all know that we are far away from that! We are Christians, but we are still sinners (the difference is that we are repentant sinners who turn to Christ as our only hope). And people are entitled to think about us that we do not sin when we do not open our mouths. We need to say how we are like beggars, struggling and not being satisfied with anything unless we find Jesus who feeds us till we are satisfied.

ψ Many times we want others to see us spotless. We want to portray the image of perfect man/women. We want to be seen as Christians that go to church and are always happy and not dealing with any problem. The truth is that we all struggle with sin: Christians and non-Christians. The second category, though, has a way, the only way to deal with it. To lay our sins at Christ’s nailed feet, asking for forgiveness, repenting and trusting in the saving power of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Only after that has happened, you realize how much you are loved and you start loving deeply.

ψ In other words, let them see the clouds so they will understand why you love the Sun.

“We love Him, because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

ψ I realized, as Tim Chester says in the “Soul Songs” that because we do not confess our sins to one another “We become communities of law rather than communities of grace. The world thinks we are self-righteous and Christians think they must struggle alone.”

ψ So, instead of just being honest in our churches, we prefer to pretend. To pretend that everything is fine in our personal life. To reply short and to lie to questions like “How are you?” We claim to be doing fine, but we are far away from feeling that way. We struggle with sin and we need the other members of the body to pray for us.

ψ By pretending that everything is “ok” we are not being honest. And this leads us to grow apart from each other. Confess you sins first to God, then be honest with the people of God that form the church. Be honest with the people that don’t know were you were and who you are now because of Jesus. I want to encourage you by writing down this precious reminders from the book of 1 John.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“If anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:1-2

ψ Also, in the book of James we find it written: “Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16

ψ Remember always that He is faithful and He will do what He promised. And then, you will be able to sing like David: “Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!” Psalm 32:11

1’st birthday party ideas for girls.

Part 1.

Note* This is PART ONE out of two from the “1’st birthday party ideas for girls” series.

Shout out to all mommies out there!

Coming from another mom I just want to start by saying: “You are doing an awesome job!”

Everybody knows that it is not easy to be a mom: to love/care for everyone, stay up late, keep things organized and clean, plus all the other exciting things that we do as moms – let alone to raise humans. So with that being said, we are here to help.

I just want you to know that we’ve got you covered with at least one thing. Yes, you know what I am talking about. We are going to talk about something F.U.N. The big 1 YEAR OLD BIRTHDAY PARTY.  As amazing and terrifying it may sound that your little one is growing so fast, her first birthday ever is approaching. No matter if you are thinking of organizing something small or you’re planning to throw a huge birthday party, I hope that these ideas will come in handy.

I mentioned “we” instead of “I” because for this article I teamed up with my beautiful and talented friend, Esther Joh-Mueller. She is having an amazing sense for polished, refined things and takes great pictures. Besides our shared passion for photography, we discovered that we have so many other things in common. We are both from Europe, currently living in the USA. She is Swiss and I am Romanian, both of us moms. I am blessed with precious Joellen Alice and she is the mother of angelical Chloe. Esther is expecting baby number 2, baby boy Silas – how exciting!!!

The point is that we both experienced the emotions of our children first year birthday party. And we would like to share with you guys some ideas that may inspire you.

You should definitely check her Instagram account “chloeandsilas” and follow her if you want to be blown away with her unique style and creativity. Esther also has a very captivating YouTube channel – “Esther JohMueller”. Make sure you check that also and SUBSCRIBE for more fashionable videos and room tours.

Without more further ado let’s jump right into this article!

Outfit ideas

There is no rule for dressing your baby in a certain way for celebrating the big ONE. I will show you 3 suggestions. The first one that you can opt out is a classy feminine traditional outfit that precious Chloe is wearing.

The second option would be the outfit that my little baby girl Joellen is wearing. This look is composed of 3 pieces: a soft zephyr colored bodysuit, stripe flare pants and a textile flower hairband/hair accessorie. I bought this outfit from a local designer and I was very happy of how comfortable and joyful Joellen was while wearing it.

Because Joellen got to celebrate her birthday twice – one time just with her family and the other time with family and some of our dear friends and their kids, Joellen’s friends – she got to wear also this gorgeous princess like dress.

Décor ideas

Flowers are always adding a touch of elegance. You can notice how combining different types of pastel natural flowers brights up the room and makes a huge difference in the place where you are hosting the party.

Depending on what theme color you have for your party, you can play around while decorating using fresh natural flowers. For Joellen’s party I used 5 vases with pale pink and white roses that I displayed on the main table like this one.

Balloons

Balloons are a great and chic idea to showcase the fact that this is indeed your baby first birthday ever. Choose between writing the number down, as I did with Joellen’s gold balloons, or to go for the actual number 1. For girls, pink and gold balloons are going to look amazing as they will stand out.

Other amazing option that you have is to combine the flowers with the balloons, like Esther did for Chloe. Choose something simple for the balloon if you are going to add more flowers or try out decorating with a colorful balloon and simple flowers.

In the two pictures of Chloe you can see how the white vintage high chair stands out because of the flower-balloon garland.

One last thing, do not forget that whatever you decide to do, you need to have fun, be creative and enjoy every single moment of your little ones life!

From ZERO to HERO. Comfort Works slipcover review.

Do you want to add some personality to your couch/loveseat?

Are you looking for a new sofa?

Whatever might be the reason – here me out!

The couch in the photo below is the first couch my husband and I ever had. Hard to believe, right? Well…we were living in a small apartment and back then we needed a small couch that could turn into a bed – a small sleeper sofa. So, this “Solsta” IKEA blue navy sofa was a good choice. It might not look like, but this couch becomes a pretty good size bed.

Here is how the couch looked when we just bought it

So…being our first couch and having multiple functions I had a hard time trowing it away. Plus, I have always liked to give a second chance to old objects, restore them or make the best out of them.

Here is how the couch looks like after 2 years of being used

Yiikes! You can notice how the blue navy is not so blue anymore, haha. The material looks very worn out creating an overall sad look.

I thought about different options in order to transform this couch. I wanted a material that will match with the fabric of our living room couch, which is a rich luxurious velvet indigo blue. I was having in mind to place this couch in my daughter’s bedroom. I looked around at different materials but I couldn’t find anything that I really liked.

Searching online and reading some interior design blogs, I discovered Comfort Works. They are offering custom made sofa covers and replacement slipcovers. My first thought was “Ok, this site looks pretty cool, they even have free worldwide shipping but do they have a slipcover for my poor looking sofa? And if they do, there is no way that I could find a velvet material.” I was going to find out that I was completely wrong !

On their site I was able to find exactly what I needed. You just have to pick the type of couch that you own and they make sure that you get what you want and need.

Below there is a video in which I show you how simple it is to pick the perfect slipcover for your couch.

Also, if you desire a specific material or color, if you want to feel the material and see how would it go in your room, comfort-works.com can send you some fabric samples.

Did I mentioned that this handmade slipcovers are coming with a 3 year warranty?

My sofa cover arrived on time (the estimate delivery takes between 1 and 2 weeks). It was packaged in a very cute way.

I was very excited to put it on. For some reason I was thinking to set apart some time in my day for this process. I don’t know why I was thinking that it’s going to take me some time to set everything into place. In reality, everything was very easy because the covers come with labels, like this one:

So my slipcover was on in less than 3 minutes. I made sure that everything was in its place and then I was ready to throw some pillows on and make my small couch look comfy and chic.

Voila! Here is the final result:

Disclosure:  This is NOT a sponsored post. Comfort Works did not provided the slipcover in exchange for my review. I bought it with my personal money. I really like the product so I decided to share this article with you. Maybe your couch needs a transformation and this solution may sound tempting (instead of not giving any change to your old couch and thinking to get rid of it).
